"Thank you, Nick! It was a great memory planting at your farm, thank you so much for accommodating us, taught Tiffany to plant strawberry, and taught Olivia to take care your beautiful cats and dog. Cleaning and Paving your trail was such a great fun, what a team work! Wish you all the best!""

I think Nick is really an interesting guy. We spent about a week on the farm and had a generally good time. We would watch movies and chat. Nick showed us a view of an American, which is brand new and interesting to me. There were some problem we met. We were not accustomed to the local food, so we bought some food and cooked by ourselves. Therefore, I would advice Asian helpers to buy your food right after Nick pick you up from the airport. The other is that Nick really smoked a lot. If you hate that smell, you would like to think twice. Overall, the volunteer process is mind-blowing and interesting.

I volunteered with Nick at Prince Bay Farm for 2 weeks in the summer of 2015. This was my first helpx experience and it became the standard I used to measure all volunteer experiences I've had after. Nick was very organized and thorough with his explanations of daily tasks and was around if you had any questions or needed/wanted further direction. He was clear on what he expected from me and the other volunteers. He is an extremely accommodating host and often took us out to the store if we needed something. He even took us to the beach one day and to a couple of local restaurants. He knew I was really interested in learning about the process of farming so he took the time to personally explain everything to me to make sure I learned something during my time there. After work hours I was glued to the upstairs porch hammock which was extremely relaxing looking out onto an open field and a starry night sky. Nick is very knowledgeable, a good conversationalist, funny, spiritual, open-minded and openhearted. I recommend volunteering with him and wish him the best of luck at Prince Bay Farm!

"This farm and the owner are awesome. Despite being in the off season, the food was incredible every night. Work days and the work load are reasonable. Be prepared to get your hands dirty. Nick, the owner, has been kind and hospitable the whole time. Decided to stay an extra week here because of the good vibes and because the next batch of volunteers bailed. We've watched a different movie every night so far ranging from Taking Woodstock to movies like V for Vendetta. It's great here, and this farm really set the bar for my expectations of future farms."

I had a really amazing opportunity to stay in Prince Bay farm during almost 2 weeks. Nick is super informative great person who always inspires with his strength and positiveness. Also, he is a good cook and helpful, kind, really open-minded and good joker and just amazing man. I wish I would planned a bit longer stay. His dog Snoddy is very cute, he used to do jogging every morning with me, was a good company. Actually, it was my first experience to be in a farm using this network so honestly at first I had a bit bad expectation due to social stereotype etc. but now I am sure to say "Just come here and do it, feel it!" I hope that your throat will recover very soon. Stay healthy! Hope to see you again. Thank you so much!

"This is my first wwoof experience and I learned a lot about organic farming from my short one-week stay on the farm. The workload was reasonable each day, mostly less than 5 hours. I had plenty of private time after work and went to the beach and river on weekends. The host was nice and knowledgeable, and I got along well with other wwoofers. The cats on the farm were really cute! However, the accommodation was a little disappointing. The house was old and the kitchens were very disorganized. Some of the food the host provided pasted expiration date and drinking water was directly from the tap. Even though there have been many Chinese volunteers and the host shows a great interest in Chinese culture, I wouldn't highly recommend Chinese volunteers (who aren't used to American culture and cuisine) choose this farm for their first wwoof experience. In brief, I'm thankful for the hospitality of the host and the knowledge I've learned on the farm, but my experience was far from what I had expected."

"My time at Prince Bay Farm was great. The atmosphere is a nice mix of work and fun. Nick is super knowledgable and is always at the ready to share what he knows (it's actually a little freaky how good his memory and breadth of knowledge on different subjects are). Knowing I was interested in learning as much as possible, quite a few times Nick made it a point to teach me something that may not have been on the agenda for that day, which I really appreciated. He also took time for Q&A session with his volunteers. If there is something you're interested in that you don't see on the farm, Nick is all about experimental farming and experiential education so with Nick's okay, you may be able to implement it on the farm. I stayed in my tent in the backyard which was very peaceful at night. The other volunteers I met when I was there were awesome. I miss Snoddy dog already! I had a really good time and plan to stay in touch and swing by when I'm in the area to see how things are growing. Highly recommend it!"

Nick's farm is the first farm that I've ever been to and, needless to say, the fun experience left a wonderful impression on me. I loved how Nick was so chill, open-minded and knowledgeable at the same time. I learned not only about farm work, but also about life. I also met fun and amazing helpers during my stay, so that made my farm experience even better! Look forward to future farm stays! Nick's a super fun host. I stayed with him for 2 weeks and helped out on the farm. I learned so much about farm work and about life! He's awesome. I'd definitely recommend him.

Prince Bay Farm is an awesome place. This was my first work exchange and it couldn't of been any better. The work isn't incredibly strenuous or boring, Nick tries to keep some variety in the work. The farm itself is beautiful and relaxing. There are acres you can roam about. Nick is an amazing host. He is very straight with his volunteers and doesn't stand for any bullshit. However if you come here wanting to work hard and not cause trouble he is an awesome person to hang out with. I think other people have mentioned it in these reviews but he is like a walking ENCYCLOPEDIA. He can talk about many different topics knowledgeably and is super interesting to listen to.
If your looking for a good place to work and learn this is it. I highly recommend volunteering at Prince Bay Farm.

"I've WWOOFed at two other farms before coming here, and this was absolutely my favorite experience. Nick makes you feel like you're a part of the farm, and will answer any question you might have on any topic under the rainbow. If you're looking for a colorful experience with wild, yet thought provoking conversation this is the place for you. Oh, and the food is pretty bomb, too! I cannot wait to return!"

Nicholas is a funny host. He has a wonderful personality, and he makes me feel comfortable at his place. Based on his experience of hosting volunteers from all over the world, he really cares about his volunteers. Most important is that he cooks amazing food!!!

I spent two weeks in Nick's farm on June 2017. It was my first Wwoofing experience and I enjoyed it a lot. Nick is a smart great person with nice chats. We had the opportunities to share interesting conversations and opinions about everything. Even if sometimes the job wasn't easy for me (often because of the warmth at these period) I took a lot of pleasure to help everyday and to participate to the farm life! I highly recommend this place in order to experience farming, have a real good life moment and discover another USA face!

Oh my, where do I even begin?! I was here for two weeks (wish it was longer!) during August. I had so much fun getting dirty out in the garden! I spent my time banking and hoeing the rows, picking veggies and seeds, weeding and trimming bushes. I had practically zero gardening experience but I never felt out of place or anything. I was super comfortable here and the guys here made me feel like family. We shared lots of laughs and I had plenty of new experiences! I got to see the ocean for the first time while I was here, and I saw the solar eclipse! We went to some fun shops, a tasty BBQ and talked about everything. Seriously great conversations. And the food! You'll never go hungry here. This was my first ever Workaway experience and it was awesome! I left a couple days ago and I'm already missing this place! The days I spent here were definitely some of the best days. I was allowed to bring my friend Tiyanna with me to the farm and here's what she had to say: IT WAS AMAZING!!! I didn't know exactly what I was getting myself into. I decided to go check it out with my friend Lucy and it was an incredible experience!!! I would absolutely recommend the farm to anyone who is interested. For us it was worth it. We can't stop talking about the farm. I would recommend the farm to those who aren't afraid to get dirty and chill with some cool peeps. Thank you Nick, Nicholas, and all of the lovely volunteers we got to meet while there (and of course Snoddy Dawg and the kitties!). We will never forget our experience. :)

Volunteering at Prince Bay Farm was enjoyable for many reasons, including the host's great attitudes and sense of humor. Nick is full of interesting facts, and has a large collection of books! The farm itself, and surrounding areas are just beautiful, and the work is not very hard. If you just try your best for a for a few hours all the work seemed to get done easily, and there was lots of time to relax. I would recommend volunteering here ! All together it was a fun experience.

"Prince Bay Farm has been my first WWOOF experience, which I do not regret. Nick is wonderfully hospitable, given strangers are periodically passing through his humble home. Also to detail, his colorful home. Among the assortment of magnets (not stickers) on Nick's fridge is one with the lettering "love carefully." A lovely and, over time, striking reminder to take care. Adorable black, gray, orange, and toothbrush mustached cats roam the farm. The critters (as a greeting from the farm fam would charm), like to hang out by the meow door, waiting for scraps from Nick's yummy veggie creations. A much larger critter, you'll find trotting alongside you is the beast of a dog with a personality to match... Snoddy Dawg! The golden mutt fits the telling you'll have to meet him. Don't forget the bugs hanging around; weaving spiders, colonized ants, dancing butterflies. Along the rows of plants sustained by so many hands before yours, you enter the distinctive realm that can only be Prince Bay Farm. I left having fulfilled my desire to become more knowledgeable and comfortable with gardening. No question was left unattended by the host. Thank you, Nick, for the coffee, book, smoke, movies, existence and conversation."
It was my first woofing experience and it gave me want to discover other farms. Prince Bay Farm is a nice place, very quiet. I have liked my moments in the terrace. Nick and his son are very sympathic. Farm life is very pleasant: good food, films, kitten, garden work...

Want everyone to know that staying and working at the Farm, Tabor City, NC USA was like coming home from college and helping at the family farm. Nick Prince, the host, is great and made me feel at home. Even though chores had to be done, there was always a relaxed environment. Every season has its own beauty. I was there this past Christmas holiday. And yes, work still goes on during this time. Hoe the field, rake the leaves, pickup pecans, strip and store lemon balm tea leaves, water and feed the animals and more. Nick's got it under control but could sure use extra hands. Come see and work at this place for yourself. I met and made friends with nice people that were staying there too. What an experience. I didn't want to leave. If Nick would have me back, I'd love to help again. Different season to experience other things on the farm. Oh, I loved Snoddy Dog too, the farms Mascot.

"I had an amazing experience at Prince Bay Farm. Nick was very accommodating and welcoming. I spent Christmas with him and others staying at the farm, he baked us a turkey, and we made gingerbread houses (my first time ever). I also spent New Year's Eve there and had an incredible time hearing Nicks stories and jokes. I'll always be grateful for the experience that Nick provided for me and things I learned about farming from him. There are so many books to read! I loved the farm life, the animal, the cats and taking walks in the forest. I grew accustomed to the tranquility of his farm. I reached a point where I felt at home and I felt very sad to leave. I will definitely come back." Thank you so much for extending your hospitality. I feel like I've made a great friend. I'm incredibly busy at the moment so apologies for just getting to this. Full time school, full time work and my spring nonprofit projects have started. No time to sleep. I hope all is better from your surgery. Hang in there Nick, just a little more. You have my contact info if you need anything.

"I had a lovely experience here. Though I didn't know much about tending to a garden, and despite Nicks inability to communicate with ease, I still felt very welcomed and informed. I am now much more prepared for my return in the summer!!! After a productive day of planting Austrian Field Peas and hoeing the garden with a younger Nick Prince, I would sit on the front porch and read a book, doodle or even reflect on the beauty of the day and the long lasting imprint past volunteers have made... Very refreshing to witness the beauty of coming together and working towards something greater . Nick and Nick make quite the duo and I felt very comfortable sharing the house with them. This was a great way to start my excursions with WWOOF. And what a freaking beautiful property! Explore endless trails and a hidden treasures in the woods with either a cat or a Snoddy Dawg by your side. I was very pleased with how much I learned and what I was able to take back home with me. Hope you are healing well Nicholas ! Best of luck to you :)"

“itz a such an honor to be hosted by Nicholas as itz my first time to USA. Even though i have a problem understanding Nick’s robot English, he is always patient and write them down for me. Nick is funny and talent ,offering helps to me whenever i am needed. I could tell that he is smart and full of wisdom, i should improve my English to have more deep and inspiring conversations with him. i cant stop laughing here, having so much fun with Nick, Nicholas, C, Nancy and Peace! For the work, sometimes itz hard, like weeding under the Sun. Yet,he agreed me to start an hour earlier so that i could talk to my families and have a nap at noon. So if u need Anything, just say it out loud. All is negotiable, and All is about communications. My favorite part is the food, hands down.“Damn it,the food is fucking delicious! And Nick, you are a fucking good cook!” Thatz the most impressive sentence i have learnt, hahahaha~Besides, Nick took me to some great restaurants, Serving some yummy Asia Food! And the barbecue All u can eat is amazing! OMG, i already miss those food!!! i would recommend Prince bay house to anyone who wants to experience a farm life and have authentic American food! Ready to get your hands dirty?”
Nicholas Prince is a fantastic funny smart and wonderful man! You can learn a lot from him he is the positive impact we need in this world. Unfortunately due to my mess ups I have never had the opportunity to work on such a wonderful farm. I hope in the future if I am ever able a second chance I will be able to gain the opportunity to volunteer

"This homestead is idyllic. I visited for 3 weeks in June and had a really nice time. Be prepared for no AC, it's actually nice not having to acclimate all the time and the breeze and fans are enough. We weeded, composted, trimmed, hoed, seeded, and were pest management. since the property focus is on personal sustainability and thus not very large, everyone was able to experience all aspects of the farming process. Nick is very knowledgeable having grown up on a farm and being a major book worm. We toured the property taking photos of the diversity of flowers and I learned how to identify flowering plants in the nightshade family. Overall I had a really nice time and had a hard time driving away. Have a good sense of humor when you come, Nick has some good and some really terrible dad jokes."

"This is the first farm I’ve volunteered with, and I loved it! I stayed for a month. Not only does the host provide you with knowledge of farming and on life in general, but also provides good food and good company. My advice to WWOOFers that are looking at volunteering on Prince Bay Farm: make sure you read thoroughly the rules that are in place (they’ll be provided to you through email) and if your plans change, let the host know in a fair amount of time! Your plans don’t affect only you, but the host as well!! Thanks again Nick, for an awesome experience! It was a rewarding month that I will never forget!"

I spent amazing 2 weeks with Nick(host), Nicholas(host’s son), and the other volunteers at the Farm. Thanks to the farm, I got used to bugs, birds, and hotness! The slow life and the nature at the farm made me relaxed and forget about busy and crowded society temporarily. Everyday I laughed a lot with people there. The all experiences I had there are very precious and irreplaceable for me. The job was 9am-noon and 1pm-3pm. Weeding, arranging compost, planting seeds, arranging fields.... the tasks were not difficult even for me who had not been familiar with farming or gardening. All people there were so nice to me and always supported me. I think that’s why I didn’t feel any difficulties. The meal was provided twice a day, and also I was allowed to have breakfast by myself by using food there. These points are really helpful for travelers who want to save money. That there’re many cats and kittens was also good point for me! The kittens and a doggie were my resources of energy during the stay! Anyway, I’m really glad to have met awesome people at the farm. I recommend this farm to all people who love nature, animals, and making friends with strangers! I hope see Nick and Nicholas(Totoro) again someday! Thank you, Moe:)

In addition, I went to Myrtle Beach and River on holiday and Nick’s birthday. They are beautiful!! I miss Nick, Nicolas, Snoddy, a lot of cats, and delicious food! Thank you so much!

The farm has been back for almost a year and a half. After so long reflections, NICK has been communicating with me and my friends have been chatting on WeChat occasionally. I feel that my opinion is a bit extreme and exciting. I have tried several changes. But I can't find the entrance to the change, and I can only leave a pertinent opinion. The first message was mainly two questions. One was dissatisfaction with food. The other was that I felt too casual about NICK's own words. In fact, the fundamental reason was that my own understanding and expectations were too high. 1. When I go, it is January, winter winter, although the North Carolina is not too cold, but it is also a dormant period of crops. I don’t have farm experience. I think the channel is a fruit tree. There are green vegetables on the ground! The result was empty-handed, and only the cabbage was eaten on the ground. Haha, there are no fruits. The fruit on the farm pictures, blueberries are the only scenes in summer and autumn, so the winter is not as big as I expected. The best stomach in China collects fresh fruits and vegetables, NICK It’s an American, I think he seems to be able to eat canned coffee. 2. Imagine the work of the farm too interesting! Of course, there are only eucalyptus branches, weeds and cats in winter! I am thinking about picking fruit on this farm, swimming, going up the mountain and going to the sea are all summer things. In fact, there is another scene in winter, quiet and depressed, the sky is cold and fresh, if you want to think about life alone, the grove HIKING is also good! (NICK's farm has a small forest), I used to go with the white dog SNODDY twice, all of which SNODDY took me out. I can only say that I want to be thriving, hot, summer, want to be clean, the soul of the refined winter, but do not like the farm white, I think of the summer scenery in winter. 3. For NICK's casual, it is also in words. He has been alone for a long time. Someone came, talked, loved to joke, and liked to tell you something you didn't know. It was actually American talk and humor. I was very cautious at the time. NICK's English was a bit British. Some words didn't understand. I rarely talked. Later, after a chat, I realized that he was afraid that when I was bored, I would stop talking. When I didn't speak, I didn’t stop talking. Teasing me. Suggestion: If you don't understand, ask him. Don't understand and ask again, if you don't agree, just swear at him, BE FREE, don't be so cautious with him or Americans. What do you like and don't like to talk to him directly, he will also tell you directly: what can't do what can be done, after living in his home, you can understand. Finally, everyone should look at American dramas, such as the modern family, and then go to the United States, it is easier to integrate. If you have the opportunity to go to the NICK farm, he is still a good American HOST, short answer, honest, kind and hospitable. Finally, I hope that everyone can see my pertinent reply and have a pleasant experience.

"I had a very good time staying at Prince Bay Farm for the month of July. It was a lot of hard work in hot and humid conditions, but they were all meaningful, important tasks through which I learned so much about farming, sustainability, plants and animals, and life in general. Nick has an incredible, encyclopedic brain full of information about anything you might want to know. Talking with him leaves you with a huge breadth of knowledge you'd never expect to have. And talking with him about his own wild experiences in life - travels, jobs, crazy occurrences and crazy ex-girlfriends - never failed to leave me in awe. Life on the farm was as quiet and peaceful as you could possibly want, with afternoons free to read, watch movies, walk around the farm/extensive trails, hang out with other volunteers, or see what's up in nearby towns. On weekends and holidays, Nick took us out on some really great trips to the beach, the river, and some cool shops. Overall, the food was fantastic, the company was great, and the opportunities for learning were plentiful. I had a unique and unforgettable experience here and I'm glad I came."

"Prince Bay farm was the first place i volunteered for through wwoof. I couldn't have had a more gracious and accommodating host such as Nick. During my month stay i was able to experience both the ins and outs of farm life and the the peaceful serenity of the countryside. Not only did he have a diverse garden full of vegetables from around the world, but the wildlife was always present. From funky Caterpillars and cool spiders to chickens and guineas, there was no shortage of activity. I often found myself being trailed by Snawdy Dawg or one of the cats as I went about my chores, so i always had company. Nick expects you to contribute in household chores whether its prep or doing dishes. He is full of knowledge whether its horticulture, history, travel, or life experiences. Be prepared for some stellar stories. Speaking of, if you plan on bringing books, don’t unpack them here. There are books in literally every room in anything you could be interested in. Overall, i learned a lot about life and myself during my time there. If you are looking for a down to earth spot, this is the place for you."

"I spent really nice two weeks on the Nick's farm. I needed a little time to adjust to the farm life at first, but as soon as I get used to everything, I started to enjoy. Although it's winter time, meaning there isn't that much exciting work on the farm, I still got a glimpse of how a farm operates. I enjoyed the environment a lot, with daily interactions with Snotty dog, cats, guinea fowls, chicken and goose on the farm. Nick is an unique individual with incredible personal stories and experiences. He's a really chatty and goofy person with a ton of positive energy. It was during Christmas time and and he prepared each of us a bag of gifts, which was super super sweet! It would be an awesome experience as long as you come with respect and an open mind :)"

"I had an amazing experience at Prince Bay farm. Nicholas was a great host, during the day he taught me how to plant and educated me on different types of plants/produce. Nights consisted of watching movies and listening to his funny and definitely unique stories! He taught me the history of Tabor City which was very interesting to learn about and took me to the local book sale/museum. It was an amazing trip and I look forward to visiting again!"

I love animals at Nick's, especially the the guinea fowls (I usually only see them in zoos) and Snoddy! Sunset from Nick's balcony is very beautiful, and I enjoyed the serenity of countryside. During Christmas eve we made gingerbread house and watched It's a Wonderful Life, and on Christmas day I got a full bag of gifts from Santa Claus (wonderful surprises from Saint Nicholas). “i have been in Prince Bay Farm for 10 days from 9 JAN to 19 JAN. if I describe my feelings in one word, that is "unforgettable"; if one sentence, that is "i do love Prince Bay Farm";if a passage, that is :Nick is a real gentlemen, he is full of tolerance, generosity, wisdom etc. he taught me how to use the tools correctly when I work in the field. he can answer me all questions I asked very precisely and patiently. he is really can be called "Nickpedia". everything he roasted is very delicious!Oh my God. i do love American food because of Nick. he is very optimistic and very far-sighted. he said,"i can not change the world ,but maybe i can change some people--to save natural resources. if I can change one people ,he will change other people, ......,maybe the world can be changed finally." and finally, I must to say, I miss you Snoddy! hope Nick can give my regards to you."

“I am glad that I can spend wonderful 2 weeks with Nick and other volunteers at the farm. I learned a lot of knowledge about farm during working at farm. Nick is a wonderful photographer always capturing the nature beauty of us. He is generous, humorous and knowledgeable, less as a host than a wonderful friend! I had a lot of fun while working and helping with dinner. I made a short movie each day to record my life here and post it on social media to share my happiness these days. I recommend all of you to visit and volunteer here!!!”

"Nick's extensive knowledge of homestead farming is educational and fascinating. Any questions are immediately answered in detail. Working hours are totally doable, just finish your coffee BEFORE 9am! Plenty of adorable farm animals to befriend. Hiking trails available on the property behind the house if you're a runner. Meals always hot and delicious. Get ready to hear the phrase, "Tell me a story," and to hear many stories yourself. You may even leave an official part of the Prince Bay anecdotal library. I recommend Prince Bay Farm to anyone looking for a farm opportunity."

I could spend so exciting days with Nick!! I’m not good at English so he had to say again many times, and he always did it. That helped me a lot. Working in the farm was not easy but I was so glad to see many buds I seed ! That was wonderful memories for me. Nick allowed me to watch any movies in free time. To understand those movies was little hard but fun. Everyone can spend wonderful funny days with Nick!!! Thank you for all you did for me, Nick!!!

I stayed with Nick for one night a few months ago and had a good experience at his place. The amount and diversity of vegetables, plants, and trees that he grows as one person on his farm is amazing, and I was glad to take the tour of Prince Bay Farm. Also while I was there, Nick took me for my first and only attempt at real, southern barbecue at an authentic BBQ place(with plenty of pig pictures & pig related items in sight). I’m grateful for your generosity, Nick, and I apologize that it took this long to write a reference.

I stayed on Prince Bay Farm for about 2 weeks and had valuable experiences there. The farm is surrounded by nature and there are a cute dog and many cats, which I really liked! I was a bit nervous since this was my first time to stay on a farm but Nick was very friendly and always nice to volunteers. I am so happy to choose this farm as my first farm stay.

"I got a great experience at Prince Bay Farm. He explained about each jobs in a polite way, so thanks to that, I could do planting seeds, squashing bugs, and weeding and so on even if I have not worked at the farm before. Also, he is very knowledgeable person, so I learned not only agricultural things, but also cookings and other things. There were a lot of cats and insects here, which allowed me to get along with them. I was really glad that I worked here with Nick, Nicholas and other wonderful volunteers. If anyone is looking for WWOOF, I recommend this farm!" Thank you so much for letting me work at your farm. You were so kind and considerate person. At first, I was worried about working at the farm because it was the first time for me and I had no knowledge about the farming. But, at once I saw you at the airport, I was relived because you welcomed me and smiled. I still remember that! Through working at your farm, I realized that I like working outside even if it is very hot and farming! I want to try growing some vegetables or flowers by myself! If I had not worked with you, I would not have noticed such things. You are one of my best persons who I have ever met!!!

"I cannot stress enough just how amazing it was to spend five weeks on Nick's farm. He's a wonderful host who went above and beyond to create warm, welcoming environment. He feeds you delicious food, gives you a comfortable place to sleep, and tells you some of the most AMAZING stories, all in exchange for a few hours of good, satisfying work. The tasks we did always came with an opportunity to learn, and nothing felt better than looking back at the day and seeing what you accomplished. I really feel like I had a little family while working here, and I hope to come back in the future."

We spent wonderful days here!!! It was the first workaway volunteer for us!!! Nick and his son welcomed us, and we had a big family !! In there, our jobs were getting rid of the bugs, watering, picking barriers and beans, mowing, and so on. We were afraid of bugs at first, but now we are get used to them and feel cute! He is very nice shef, he used the vegetables from his "supermarket" aka the Prince Bay Farm!!! Moreover, he took us to the Myrtle Beach one day, it was very nice like a family trip!!! we are really glad that it's the first our workaway place!!!! he was so funny and kind, we were always laughing with him. Since "our family" was international, we had cultural experiences and friends from all over the world!! We missed them, and We also missed all animals there especially Sneady, Ashe and some sweet baby cats! These experiences we had there will be a great memory for us!!!
Thanks to you, we had many precious experiences of American life. You are American father for us! if we have a chance, we really want to see you guys again. We are always looking forward to your new posts on facebook. Thank you for every thing!! Thank you for taking many pictures of us!!! We want to have your delicious meals again!!!! See you.

Nick's farm is a hearty, liberal haven where people come as strangers and leave as old friends. I spent two weeks with Nick, his son, and 6 other helpers working on different tasks throughout his farm. What stood out to me the most is how much Nick truly cares about his helpers. Some come to learn English and the American culture, others are interested in farming and the environment; but no matter what your goals are, Nick works to make your time meaningful and memorable. He varied the tasks to make sure work wasn't boring, we handmade ice cream and went to the beach when the weather was hot, we always had full healthy meals that he'd cook, and we'd watch subtitled movies in the living room so both international and American helpers could have a good time watching together. Nick's place is easy to recommend. You learn about the work it takes to run a farm while surrounded by a library of countless physical books and the verbal stories told by Nick. I look back fondly on the experience and hope you will too:)

"A very interesting experience! Nick maintains a good balance between work and providing a unique experience for all those who come to his farm. The farm itself is on some really beautiful land, and I found some moments of great peace. Nick also helped to guide me around the area when I wanted to explore on Sundays, and recommended and provided me a book that has now turned into one of my favorite books! I had the good fortune of staying with some wonderful people and that enriched the experience as well. I am very grateful for the whole experience, thank you Nick!"

I had worked Nick's farm for about 6 weeks. My job was crushing bug and watering the garden and helping dinner. The family was very kind. And, we offen watched movies while eating popcorn, went to hiking and went to beach. I can have enjoyed everyday. Thank you for inviting me! Regard Kana

I stayed at the Farm for 7 weeks. Working on the farm and staying at Nick’s house were relaxing and fun. Even though I requested my staying at the last minute, his response was really quick so it was truly helpful. Nick is a great cook and his handmade cooking was delicious & healthy. He has a dog, a bunch of cats, and a bunch of chickens and they all are so adorable. I met a lot of people from different places during my stay, and I truly enjoyed spending time with them and get to know them. Nick always tried to make us laugh so there was a good vibe all the time. I’m truly grateful for this experience. Thank you so much for letting me stay, Nick.

I spent 2 weeks at the Farm after Nick reached out and asked if I wanted to come to the farm. I haven't done Workaway before, but this was a wonderful first experience! I ate lots of good food cooked by Nick, which was great after a day's work. There was always a variety of different tasks, which kept things interesting. From harvesting (cotton, peanuts, chestnuts, camellia seed pods), planting seeds, clearing brush in the woods, painting, hanging out with the other workawayers, and playing with the adorable cats + Snoddy Dawg, there was never a dull moment! Nick also took us out to Myrtle Beach, museums, and to eat, which was always fun. I learned and laughed so much during my brief stay and would highly recommend visiting this Farm to anyone. I hope I'll be able to make it back over there soon!

I could spend great 2 weeks with Nick, Nicholas, and the other volunteers. I cannot speak English fluently and I haven't done Workaway before, so I was little nervous at first. But Nick is very kind and funny, so I could be relax immediately. I could experience a lot of things, such as farming, shooting, making rice treats, and camping! Everything was new and exciting for me. I will never forget this special days. Thank you so much!!

This was my first farm & I had a great experience! Even though it was winter time I still learned a good amount about farming & the maintenance that is required during the winter months. READ THE RULES again before coming to the farm. For the most part things are common sense, but there are little things to remember. Nick, Rachel, & his son Boo (Nicholas) are great people - so hang out with them while you’re there! Just follow the rules & do the work you are told & everything is great :) I will be coming back one day!"

Hi everyone! My gratitude to Nick and Nicholas and all the creatures at the Prince Bay Farm is truly immense. I got to the place being heartbroken, so I couldn’t offer much of psychic energy to participate in the Farm’s life (although I did my best to keep a good face and to be a decent worker as any volunteer should do). I was one of those assholes who claims to stay for a month and ends up leaving in two weeks, as I was freezing up – my apologies (guys, it’s just me, it wasn’t THAT cold for a regular person, the climate in the place is just BEAUTIFUL even in November). And despite all that, Nick was patient, caring, competent, generous, sarcastic, of course, and totally inspiring. To my opinion, one can have an incredible time at the Farm – and this is a 100% personal responsibility. Think ahead thoroughly,- are you fit enough, what you may need, belongings and your food supplements, plan your itinerary, then mind your regimen, be alert and respectful, mind your duties, and do invest in communication. I value every minute spent at the PBF, weeding the garden beds, taking care of some plants, raking leaves, all our gatherings... I wish I did more, I wish I asked more questions; and I value all the great people I met there. I am really looking forward to come back in summer; it is an honor to be invited again – thank you Nick!!! Happy Winter Prince Bay Farm! Sending love and care, Zoy

Very amazing experience for a first time. Nick is a very funny and chill guy. Wonderful hospitality, a very comfortable sleeping arrangement, and kick ass food. The work he requires of you is very reasonable and also accompanied by a million cats that walk up to you just to say hey. He also has a vast knowledge on tons of sh!t, so if you have a question really be ready to listen because he won't just answer your question-he'll tell you every piece of information he has on that subject. The property is beautiful, very peaceful and quiet. Would definitely be willing to come again.

I spent 2 weeks at nick’s farm. Nick is friendly, and playful. He always teased me. I worked for seeding, killing bugs (We called it bugs crash), cutting branches, and so on. I was anxious about farming before working as I hates bugs, but in the last day, one of the most favorite tasks for me was bugs crash. I helped nick cook about once in three days. During cooking, nick told me to talk about something, so I could train my speaking in English with fun. Nick has many animals such as a dog, cats and ducks. I couldn’t count how many cats he has. They are so cute, and always made me smile. All of Nick’s meals were really good, that’s why I gained my weight. Also, we often go out various place, and I ate well there. When I backed to Japan, my family said that you looked fatter than before... Nick took many photos, and that was good point for me. I could get many pictures and memories :)
It was my first woofing experience and I had a great time there. I spent 2 weeks from mid January to the first week of February which is off season for farming so my experience might vary from what you will experience depends on which season you will visit.
Since Nick used most of his time organizing what kind of work he assign for each volunteers, he demonstrated what we do and then we did most of our work individually or with other volunteers. This season we did weeding, pilling wood chips, seeding, cutting little trees, etc. Whenever I had questions about farming and any other questions, he always made time for us to answer questions.
I enjoyed what he prepares for dinner with some vegetables from the garden. Going for a walk in the forest and reading at cozy porch were also my favorite off time at price bay farm.
I had a learning and relaxing farming & cultural experience at price bay farm, thank you for hosting me!

The memory of Prince Bay Farm make me feel so warm which like the sunshine in the spring which is the season I visited here. I enjoy learning different knowledge of plants and animals from Nick and prefer to take turn to assist cooking for farmer Nick with others volunteers. I am not the local American, so I have different habits with local people here. Thanks Nick for your understanding. That's interesting to talk about the difference culture or habits with volunteers. Nick told me that I am the 66th Chinese volunteer and he has met different volunteers from a lot of countries. That's my honor to be number 66th Chinese here, because number 6 means everything will be fine in China. Now, I has bought the flight tickets to back Shanghai on July. Hope I can back North Carolina to visit Nick and his farm in the future. I really wonder how beautiful the strawberry is which I grew up these days in the future. Actually, as a Chinese is super hard and expensive to buy the right flight ticket back Shanghai nowadays because of the disease. Although my flights has been canceled or changed for several times, but Nick always showed his shining smile and white teeth for me. Words are powerless to express my gratitude. So I hope to express appreciate and humor in this farm and take the memories of these warm soul from America.

Nick was an incredible host. Every day, he gave me the opportunity to learn about the farm. From the plants, the animals, the bugs, Nick was very knowledgeable and always patiently answered my questions. Nick's farm was my first workaway experience and I was nervous. But Nick was very understanding and thorough with his instructions. The work was at times tiring but satisfying and I could always look forward to a DELICIOUS meal cooked by Nick. After work, Nick was a fun and interesting person to talk to with hundreds, possible thousands of great stories, lectures, jokes, etc. The farm is a beautiful, vibrant place and the love and care Nick put into it is apparent in every square inch. I would gladly return (if Nick would have me), and recommend it to anyone who wants a generous, intelligent and kind host and an unforgettable experience. My month-and-a-half at Nick's farm is easily the highlight of my year.

I had so much fun at nicks farm! There is so much to learn at Prince Bay Farm, I feel like I did something new everyday. I enjoyed living more organically, being in nature, hanging around all of the animals and cats there (especially the goats), nicks cooking, etc . But my favorite part was getting to know Nick and the other volunteers at the farm, all amazing people! I’ll always be grateful for this experience and look back on it fondly. :)

PBF was my first introduction to WWOOFing. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by Snoddy, Nick’s dog, which set the tone of a warm atmosphere. Little did I know how life-changing this experience would be; the time flew by in the month he hosted me. Nick’s house is old, but has a lot of character. He provides daily meals, using fresh fruits and vegetables. I valued getting to taste the (sometimes literal) fruits of our labor; I loved being able to tend to Nick’s garden and beds, and found myself enjoying jobs that I never expected I would enjoy. If you’re looking for a unique experience, you’ve found the right place. By the time you leave, you’ll have communed with goats, made your own jam, learned a lot about sustainable living, and much more. My biggest piece of advice is to come in with an open mind, and leave the rest to embracing life on PBF. Farming in it of itself is not for the faint-hearted and has a large learning curve, but I promise it’s worth it.
Nick is truly a library of knowledge. Between farming, cooking, travel, and just the general minutia of life, Nick is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. He’s extremely well-read, as you will come to find through his extensive collection of books if you choose to visit. I found myself constantly learning and wanting to pick his brain, and he is very welcoming of those who want to learn, and not just about farming. Not to mention, he’s chock full of interesting stories and eclectic life experiences.
I felt comfortable the minute I arrived, which says a lot because I had never lived on a farm before. His house is quite old, but it has a lot of character and history to it. You’ll find yourself settling into it pretty quickly, getting used to the fact that it might be a very different experience than what you’re used to. Nick provides meals for you everyday, using fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden for almost every meal. He has a plethora of different crops that he has planted, so you will most likely end up trying something new that you’ve never tried before. He asks for 5 hours of work per day, which is extremely reasonable and very doable. The rest of the day is yours, aside from the occasional dinner prepping and dish washing duties. And as cliche as it sounds, I and the other volunteers had a lot of fun just enjoying the simple things.
One important thing of note is that Nick does have a set of rules and expectations for all of his volunteers; this is due to the fact that he is putting a lot of trust into the volunteers he invites to the farm to treat his home with the same courtesy and respect you would want in your own home. While they may seem extensive, these rules exist for a reason, and honestly become second nature in no time. You might find yourself wanting to implement them yourself after your stay, or at least I did. Thank you for the stay Nick; it's safe to say, it was hard having to leave early, and I definitely missed being there once I got back. I learned so much and have already found myself sharing that knowledge with others. And I must say, you also picked a great batch of volunteers.
